ILLINI MEDICAL SCREENING SOCIETY
Providing free medical screenings to the Urbana-Champaign Community

Screenings

Outreach

IMSS's primary goal is to provide free health care screenings to detect the precursory symptoms of diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure for under-served populations in Champaign County, Illinois. After consulting with a physician, clients are referred to local free health clinics where they can then receive follow up care.
Due to the limits of our capabilities, our organization partners with healthcare professionals to provide brief consultations with the clients who come for screenings. Along with facilitating check-ups, our group also advocates for several free clinics throughout Champaign County.

Health Education

Volunteering

We also aim to teach our members about various topics prevalent to healthcare. The subjects covered range greatly and are presented by professionals or by our board. In the past semester, we discussed topics including diabetes treatment factors, MMI style interviews, human nutrition, and  the pre-health path.
The work that members of IMSS do for the local community extends past our screenings. Every semester we hold a blood drive in collaboration with the American Red Cross along with several food and toy drives, volunteering with local organizations such as circle of friends, and trips to soup kitchens.
